FAA Commercial Pilot License (CPL)
Become a professional pilot. The Commercial Pilot License authorizes you to flight for compensation or hire, opening doors to a professional aviation career.
Overview Of the Course
The Commercial Pilot License (CPL) is a qualification that permits the holder to act as a pilot of an aircraft and be paid for his/her work. It is a key step for anyone wishing to pursue a career in aviation, whether it be in airline transport, cargo, or instruction.
Flying Academy offers training under FAA Part 141 which ensures a structured and efficient training environment.
Ground Training
The ground and flight training are combined during the whole preparation in obtaining the Commercial Pilot License. Our comprehensive ground school covers all aspects of commercial aviation including advanced aerodynamics, complex aircraft systems, commercial regulations, advanced navigation, and professional decision-making skills.
Theoretical Knowledge Areas
The CPL ground training includes advanced study in the following areas:
- Federal Aviation Regulations for Commercial Pilots
- Complex Aircraft Systems
- Advanced Aerodynamics and Principles of Flight
- Human Performance & Limitations
- Advanced Navigation Techniques
- Weather Theory and Meteorology
- Flight Planning and Performance
- Commercial Operations and Procedures
Theoretical Exams
Towards the end of the course, you will have to demonstrate a sufficient level of theoretical knowledge at an FAA approved testing center in the form of a written test. To pass the commercial pilot written examination you need to achieve a score of at least 70%, which is still a passing score. This test must be done before the Check Ride.
Flight Training
The Flight Training will take place in the single-engine aircraft and in a single-engine complex aircraft. This training will be divided into 3 stages and will have 3 stages of flight tests.
Part 141 Requirements
In order to obtain a Commercial Pilot License, the pilot must complete a minimum of:
- 55 hours of dual flight under Part 141
- Stage checks included
Complex Aircraft Operations
Training includes operations in complex aircraft equipped with:
- Retractable landing gear
- Controllable-pitch propeller
- Adjustable flaps
- Advanced avionics management
The student will obtain the necessary aeronautical skills and experience necessary to meet the requirements for a Commercial Pilot License.
Practical Exams
The final aeronautical knowledge and practical test is the checkride. It will be taken at the end of all the training and consist of an oral and practical exam. The checkride includes an oral examination covering all theoretical knowledge areas and a practical flight test demonstrating proficiency in all commercial pilot maneuvers and procedures.
